About the Course:

This course examines the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROM’s) for quantifying and qualifying and later improving the treatment of common mental health disorder in the adult population. It included 17 studies involving 8787 participants: 9 in multidisciplinary mental health care, 6 in psychological therapy settings, and 2 in primary care. This is a methodology and research intensive course.

Dr. Tony Kendrick

Professor Tony Kendrick is Professor of Primary Care within Medicine at the University of Southampton. Tony Kendrick’s research over 30 years has addressed the management of common and costly mental health problems in primary care, and has been influential in changing the management of schizophrenia and depression in primary care. He has published 177 peer-reviewed articles, six books, 32 book chapters, and 45 other publications.

Dr. Magdy El-Gohary

Magdy El-Gohary is a half time GP working locally in Southampton and half time academic within the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education.

Beth Stuart, PhD

Dr Beth Stuart is a medical statistician and quantitative methodologist. Beth’s work involves helping researchers to develop research questions, design studies and plan analyses and interpret results. She has experience of working with a wide variety of study designs including randomised controlled trials, observational cohorts and feasibility studies.
