Course Material Authors

Kamilla L. Venner, PhD

Dr. Vennar received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She is an Assistant Professor and Research Assistant Professor. Her research focuses on improving the alarming substance use related health disparities for American Indian/Alaska Natives while balancing the focus on cultural strengths and high rates of abstinence from substances. One avenue to improved outcomes has been to culturally adapt evidence-based treatments in partnership with AIAN communities. Another line of research has been elucidating the path to resolving alcohol dependence.

Brenna Greenfield is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Biobehavioral Health on the Duluth Campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School. She teaches first and second-year medical students about motivational interviewing and psychological interventions. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and is a 2019 Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment Editorial Fellow.
