About the Course:

Awareness of ones ideals as well as one’s actual behavior are the basis for a holistic counselor’s effectiveness in guiding clients to self-acceptance and positive life changes. In this course, the quality of counselor contact with clients before, during, and after a session is examined from a holistic perspective. The issue of creating successful agreements with clients is addressed and basic principles outlined. This course also includes an exercise to explore self-expectations and self-observations.

About the Author:

Jim has held licensure as a clinical psychologist since 1973. He is a clinical supervisor, seminar leader and has pioneered in the integration of psychotherapy with such mind/body techniques as breathwork and bio-spiritual energetics. He founded the School of Integrative Psychology in 1980 and the Transformations Breathworker Training Program in 1990 and has authored four books in the field of spiritual psychology. He is co-director of the International Breathwork Training Alliance and founder of InWellness.

  1. Increase awareness of the basis of self perception as a counselor.

  2. To learn the precepts of creating effective contracts with clients.

  3. Distinguish the “can do’s” and “can’t do’s” as goals for a holistic counselor.

  4. Identify discrepancies in counseling ideals and behavior.
