Course Objectives:

  1. Upon completing this course the participant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic tenants of self psychology.

  2. Upon completing this course the participant will able to explain the theory of perverse behavior.

  3. Upon completing of this course the participant will learn to demonstrate familiarity with psychoanalytic concepts such as splitting and structural defects.

  4. Upon completing this course the participant will be able to recognize the function of sexualization.

  5. Upon completion of the course the participant will be able to employ techniques of self psychology that can be used with patients who suffer from struggles with sexual desire.
