This course is the third in a series of three brief courses that study key prevention strategies targeting youth violence and substance abuse. This installment focuses on working in the community, emphasizing the relationship between youth and the community. Limiting availability of controlled substances and weapons, enforcing community policies, and community-wide communication campaigns are among issues addressed.

This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about preventing violence and substance abuse. It is appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels of participants’ knowledge.
