About the Course:
This course presents an overview of information for health care professionals on aspects of screening, diagnosis, and treatment of mania and depression in HIV/AIDS patients. Traditional and alternative therapies are presented, as are guidelines for working with patients having co-morbid medical and/or psychological disorders.
This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about mental health care for HIV/AIDS patients. It is appropriate for all levels of participants’ knowledge.
Describe how depression and mania express themselves in HIV/AIDS patients.
Become familiar with screening, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/AIDS patients with depression or mania.
Be able to explain circumstances that may complicate treatment of the depressed or manic HIV/AIDS patient.
