About the Course

The authors six-step model of crisis intervention outline an applied, problem-solving approach to handling crisis situations. The text also presents the quick triage assessment techniques used for assessing the severity of client crisis. Case transcripts of dialogues are sprinkled throughout the book to help illustrate the techniques described. The type of crisis situations examined run the gamut from suicide, wife battering, and addiction, to violent behavior, burnout, and hostage crises. Case studies describe how to do specific intervention techniques and why they are used.
